When YouTube changed their video player, and added the related videos during pause, the related videos at the end, the branding on the player, and other links back to YouTube, people freaked out and started to look for alternatives.
After all, who wants a player on their sales page that takes traffic AWAY from the sales page? I had clients complaining that it looks terrible, and takes away traffic, and they wanted a replacement.
But there is another MAJOR REASON to get rid of the YouTube embedded player, which nobody is really talking about. The YouTube player used up a TON of resources, slowing your page speed. Kind of ironic from the same company that is penalizing slow websites!
In fact, I recently had a website that loaded really slow, and the page speed tester gave it a 19 out of 100! I asked an expert about the issue, and he said it's the YouTube videos. So, I removed all the YouTube videos, and re-ran the test and the site got a 100! Seriously!
